Addressing vulnerabilities and financing needs for an equitable low-carbon transition

WRI India hosted a cross-country dialogue on just transitions during COP28 in Dubai. The discussion focused on key vulnerabilities linked to low-carbon transitions, financing needs, and mechanisms tailored to national contexts, ensuring accessibility for the most vulnerable populations. Participants emphasized the importance of field studies to guide the just transition narrative and the need for institutional readiness to address related challenges. The dialogue also explored strategies to blend public and private finance to support the social dimensions of the transition, including skilling initiatives and social safety nets.
