Ananya Chakraborty
Senior Program Research Specialist

Ananya Chakraborty, Ph.D., is a Senior Program Research Specialist with the Climate Resilience Practice program at WRI India. Her work focuses on the social and developmental dimensions of climate adaptation and resilience, with an emphasis on equity, and social and gender inclusion in South Asia. Her research interests include migration, agriculture, rural livelihoods, and resilient MSMEs.
Before joining WRI India, Ananya worked with the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) in Patancheru and the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) in Mumbai, in both research and leadership roles. She was part of the Managing Global Governance Academy organized by the German Institute for Development and Sustainability (IDOS) in 2019. Her work has been presented and published in newspapers, journals, and edited volumes.
Ananya holds a Ph.D. and has built a career at the intersection of climate, society, and development.
In her free time, she enjoys reading historical fiction and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
