Strengthening Madhya Pradesh to leverage benefits & opportunities from Carbon Markets

Madhya Pradesh is one of the pioneering states in implementing climate action while driving economic growth. However, strong climate action would require various sources of investment. By integrating carbon market mechanisms into its development strategies, the state could achieve a dual goal: fostering sustainable economic growth and contributing to national and global climate action.

In this context, WRI India, in collaboration with EPCO (Environmental Planning & Coordination Organisation, Environment Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh), is organizing a convening titled "Strengthening Madhya Pradesh to leverage benefits & opportunities from Carbon Markets" on January 15, 2025, at the Courtyard by Marriott, Bhopal.

This event will bring together key stakeholders from government, private sector, standard-setting body, project developers, think tanks, and civil society to build capacity on various aspects of carbon markets. It will focus on identifying opportunities to develop potential projects that can be leveraged to earn carbon finance and to implement strong climate strategies in Madhya Pradesh.

The workshop will dive into:

  • Global Status of the new architecture of the carbon markets.
  • Scenario of the domestic carbon market in India.
  • Strategies to integrate carbon finance through carbon markets to meet Madhya Pradesh’s climate and developmental priorities.
