International Workshop on the Growth and Efficiency of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in India

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are the backbone of India's socio-economic development and roughly contribute to 30% of the nation's GDP, 45% of its manufacturing output, and employ over 110 million people. However, despite preferential government policies, many MSMEs remain confined to the informal sector, in turn hindering their growth potential. For India to experience growth while ensuring inclusivity it will be crucial to help MSMEs transition from the informal to the formal sector.

WRI India, in collaboration with IIT Madras, Musashi University, and Centre for Technology, Innovation and Economic Research (CTIER) is organizing a one-day international workshop on February 17, 2024, at the IIT Madras campus.

The workshop will help provide a dynamic platform for policy makers, stakeholders from multilateral institutions, industry, academicians, and students to discuss, engage in critical analysis, and share their insights on Indian MSMEs. Deliberations at the workshop will focus on key areas such as finance, performance, innovation, and digitalization.

Additionally, the workshop will also serve as a stage for participants from Japan and India to not only share valuable insights into analyzing the growth and efficiency of MSMEs but also help foster cross-cultural knowledge exchange between academics and practitioners.
