Fostering Friends of Champions 12.3 in India

Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12 seeks to ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns. Specifically, the Target 12.3 under this goal calls for halving per capita food waste at the retail and consumer level while also reducing losses along food production and supply chains by 2030. This target is essential for enhancing food and nutrition security, improving the income levels of both food producers and consumers, and reducing impacts on land, water, and air.

This webinar aims to introduce Friends of Champions 12.3 in India which is a global network of companies and organisations from different countries committed to building a worldwide momentum on this issue. Inspiring ambition and mobilising action for reducing food and waste loss is a critical need in India as it significantly impacts social, economic, and environmental processes in an emerging economy like ours.

The webinar will present a discursive space to foster a collective action from all the companies and organisations interested in reducing food loss and waste in India. While highlighting the importance of collaborative action amongst multiple stakeholders, it will share empirical insights from the ground on management of food supply chains and food businesses, and lastly deliberate on potential solutions for managing food loss and waste in India.
