Reimagining BKC Innovation Challenge

The Reimagining BKC Innovation Challenge is a design and innovation challenge to create practical, scalable solutions that enhance the mobility and public life in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). The challenge focuses on improving how people move to, from and within BKC, while also shaping a more accessible, inclusive and vibrant urban environment.
Participants are encouraged to explore ideas that can, but are not limited to:
- Improving everyday commuter and public life experience
- Strengthening first-and last-mile connectivity with priority to active mobility
- Enabling smoother integration between different modes of transport
- Enhancing safety, comfort and ease of movement across streets and public spaces
- Introducing new approaches to managing demand and travel behaviour
The solutions may span physical design, technology, operations or behavioural change to address real-world challenges at the intersection of mobility and urban design in BKC.
Eligibility Criteria
We invite students, start-ups, experts, and anyone with a passion for improving mobility and urban life to participate. Applicants are encouraged to form teams with individuals from diverse backgrounds (maximum 5 per team).
Timeline & Process
Stage 1: Call for Entries
Open call inviting ideas to reimagine BKC
Stage 2: Submission of Proposals
Participants submit their ideas using an A3 poster in PDF format, including text, photos and graphics.
Stage 3: Evaluation & Announcement of Shortlisted Entries
Entries are reviewed and shortlisted based on the evaluation criteria mentioned below.
Stage 4: Final Jury & Exhibition
Ideas selected by an esteemed jury panel will be showcased in an immersive experience in Mumbai towards the end of May in collaboration with government agencies and partners. Top winners will also be felicitated at the event.
Evaluation Criteria
Submissions will be evaluated based on the following criteria.

1. Can I participate in a group?
You can participate individually or in a group (max 5 people)
2. Do I need to be based in Mumbai to participate?
No, the challenge is open to all. However, familiarity with mobility issues in Mumbai is a plus.
3. Can I submit more than one idea?
Participants may submit a maximum of 2 entries per individual or team.
4. How do I submit my idea?
Participants need to fill out the above form completely.
5. Will data or site information be provided?
Participants are encouraged to use publicly available information and conduct recces to understand the on-ground situation.
6. Will selected ideas be implemented?
Selected ideas will be showcased to relevant stakeholders. Opportunities for pilot implementation may be explored, subject to feasibility and stakeholder alignment.
7. Is participation free?
Yes, participation is free of cost.
8. How do I know if my entry is selected?
Shortlisted entries will be contacted by the team.

BKCMoves is an initiative aimed at reimagining the business district's mobility future by seamlessly integrating different modes of transport.
