Senior Project Associate - Sustainable Landscapes and Restoration

Bio

Srishti Kochhar is a Senior Project Associate with the Sustainable Landscapes and Restoration program at WRI India. She supports their ongoing work on Nature-based Solutions, specifically, on forest and landscape restoration and anchors design and development of a Policy Accelerator for landscape restoration and also contributes to building capacities for planning and monitoring such interventions.

A social scientist and conservationist, Srishti’s consistent endeavour is to bolster the iterative relationship between academic theory and development practice, particularly in the realm of environmental conservation. She has previously worked as Project Officer with WWF-India on community-based conservation, human-wildlife conflict mitigation, and corridor-monitoring, in several field sites.

Prior to joining WRI India, Srishti was associated with Saevus as an editor. Her fieldwork experience in India spans across Assam, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Delhi. She holds an MSc (with Distinction) in Environmental Governance from the University of Oxford, and an MA in Development Studies from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, where she was awarded the Institute Silver Medal. Srishti holds a BA (with Honours) in Political Science from Hindu College, University of Delhi. Her research interests include nature-society relationships in the Anthropocene, decolonial thought and methods, resilience and adaptation to climate change, the role of technologies in natural resource management, and novel methodologies for the increased accessibility of science and academia.

Srishti is a certified open-water diver and high-altitude trekker, an ardent dog lover, and an amateur wildlife photographer.
