Launch: Safe Access Manual Volume 1 - Safe Access to Mass Transit Stations in Indian Cities

The Safe Access Manual Volume 1: Safe Access to Mass Transit Stations in Indian Cities is a compilation showcasing the emerging work around safe and secure access to mass transit in India. This volume has been developed using a wide range of Indian and global case studies. It recommends a participatory process towards integrating the planning, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of station areas, with a priority given to non-motorised transport safety and infrastructure, security for women commuters, and universal accessibility.

The manual outlines a role for mass transit agencies and municipal corporations as nodal agencies, and underscores the need for coordination between local, state, and line agencies.
