WRI India aims to help solve the four most urgent challenges in India – rapid urbanization, the increasing demand for energy, responding to climate change and the large-scale degradation of natural resources. Position Overview:
A substantial engagement of the Streets For All program in India focuses on improving road safety in the country through provision of safe infrastructure, capacity building and community awareness. Taking this initiative forward, WRI India is commencing “Haryana Vision Zero” Project in Haryana State with a vision to improve the road safety scenario.

With his/her knowledge in the realm of road safety, the candidate will assist in materializing WRI India's vision to reduce road crash fatalities in Haryana. The Research Consultant is primarily responsible for the implementation of the program objectives in Haryana. He / She is further responsible for monitoring and evaluating the work of the Program Manager (S) of all the districts. With his/her knowledge in the realm of road safety, the candidate will assist in materializing the consortium’s vision of “Towards Zero Traffic Deaths” in the state of Haryana.

Responsibilities:
The candidate will undertake and oversee a range of responsibilities under the Haryana Vision Zero program, as listed below.

• Liaise with various stakeholders in government, NGOs and the private sector to develop a consensus for Road Safety Action Plan.
• Be responsible for the monitoring and evaluation process of the projects.
• Consult relevant standards, regulations and other published guidance.
• Develop a holistic understanding of the legal, administrative and political set-up, in order to facilitate implementation of the Action Plan.
• Prepare for and participate in meetings, conferences, trainings, etc. on project related work.
• Conduct internal and external capacity development programs on road safety.
• Monitor the day-to-day work of the Program Manager(s) assigned to him/her.
• Provide weekly, monthly and quarterly progress reports of all 22 districts.
• Write reports / blogs / news articles about the project.
• Any other activities as suggested by the reporting manager.

Qualifications and Requirements
• Post-graduation in the field of traffic/transport planning, transportation engineering, law, economics or journalism.
• Upto 2 years of work experience in program implementation and project management experience with government.
• Proficiency in English and Hindi is a must.
• Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative data analysis is a requirement.
• Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD and / or Photoshop (desirable).
• Good research and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as the ability to collaborate with other stakeholders on project delivery.
• Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner, think creatively, work calmly and enthusiastically under high pressure.

Final candidates will be required to take a writing test, and required to produce two writing samples.
