Sushmita Mudhol is a Senior Program Associate - Urban Development with the Sustainable Cities and Transport program at WRI India. Based in Bengaluru, she supports WRI India's work on making cities resilient and livable by mainstreaming climate action.

Sushmita comes to WRI India with diverse experience across urban development and transport, spanning research, policy analysis, technical advisory, and on-ground project implementation. Prior to joining WRI India, she worked with the Directorate of Urban Land Transport, Government of Karnataka, and The Urban Catalysts, supporting city and state governments in furthering sustainable mobility initiatives and advancing gender-inclusive, child- and caregiver-friendly planning and capacity-building efforts. Her work integrates spatial analysis, stakeholder engagement, and data-driven planning, with experience contributing to research across academic and practice-oriented platforms.

She holds a master’s in Planning with specialization in Urban Planning from CEPT University, Ahmedabad and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from SDM College of Engineering and Technology, Dharwad.
