Srinivas Alavilli is Fellow, Integrated Transport and Road Safety at WRI India based in Bengaluru.

Srinivas works at the intersection of policy and practice with a focus on converting research into action at scale. He’s currently driving SHIFT Transport, building a national coalition that works on shifting mobility narratives from congestion to public transport and active mobility. Other focus areas are Corporate Commute Nudge, Open Data for Public Transport, Personal2Public, Hejjegala and Suraksha a road safety program in Bengaluru.

Prior to WRI India, Srinivas was Head of Civic Participation at Janaagraha where he worked on Jaga Mission, a statewide slum transformation initiative with Government of Odisha, Ward committees in Karnataka and the Swachh Bharat Mission

Srinivas was one of the founders of the #SteelFlyoverBeda movement in 2016 that led to the formation of Citizens for Bengaluru, a public pressure group that spearheaded campaigns for public transport & citizen participation.

Earlier, Srinivas was part of several socio political movements including Corruption Saaku and India Against Corruption. He was associated with Loksatta Party as communications lead.

Srinivas has a Masters and Bachelors degrees in Computer Science and was a software professional, with a long stint in Sun Microsystems and Oracle in California and Bengaluru.

Srinivas strongly believes that transformative change is possible when ordinary citizens, civil society organizations, politicians and officials work together.
