Smriti Kumble is a Senior Program Associate with the Climate, Economics and Finance program at WRI India. Her work focuses on energy economy modelling using the India Energy Policy Simulator to examine low carbon development pathways that support India’s energy transition.

Before joining WRI India, Smriti worked across a range of climate and sustainability issues spanning energy, agriculture, and waste management. She was an Analyst with the Climate Intelligence program at RMI, where her research focused on decarbonizing the oil and gas and cooling sectors. Prior to this, she was a Junior Fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, where she modelled emissions from the oil and gas sector and worked on climate engineering governance.

Smriti holds a master’s degree in Environmental Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and dual bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Environmental Studies from American University.

Outside of work, Smriti enjoys baking elaborate desserts, reading at least one book every week, and hiking on weekends.
