Shubham Anand
Junior Program Associate – Power Utilities
Shubham Anand is a Junior Program Associate with the Energy team at WRI India. His work focuses on the clean energy transition, examining sustainability practices and ESG reporting for power utilities. His work also involves data-driven analysis and policy research to advance India’s clean energy transition in the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) sector.
Shubham previously worked with WRI India as Research Intern, where he focused on Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR) for power utilities, and on regulatory profiling and policy landscaping for selected Indian states. He has also worked with the Sankala Foundation as a Sustainability Intern, where he studied the impact of a carbon tax on Indian society.
Shubham holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Political Science from Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh. He also holds a master’s degree in Regulatory Policy and Governance from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, where he developed an academic understanding of electricity-sector regulations and policies. Additionally, as part of his dissertation, Shubham applied Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) to study electricity theft behavior among electricity consumers.
Outside of work, Shubham enjoys playing badminton and cricket, as well as travelling and exploring new places.
