Senior Research Analyst – Sustainable Agriculture

Shivangi Arvind works as a Senior Research Analyst in Sustainable Agriculture with the Food, Land and Water program at WRI India. Her role involves conducting meticulous research on convergence opportunities and applying agricultural science to promote the use of best agricultural practices. Her work aims to enhance sustainability and resilience for farmers and farmlands across diverse landscapes.
Shivangi's career in agriculture is distinguished by her focus on innovative and sustainable practices. Prior to WRI India she worked as the Chief Science Officer at AgEye Technologies, Bengaluru where she led the development of AI and IoT-based crop management platforms for indoor vertical farms. She then served as Technical Advisor at Forest Side Farm, Kotabagh, creating a multilayer farming model to restore soil fertility. During her Masters and Doctorate, she was a Junior Research Fellow with ICAR and DST, designing recommendations for high-density Guava plantations across North and South India.
She holds a Doctorate and bachelor’s degree in agriculture sciences from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, and a Gold Medalist post-graduation in Horticulture from the University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot. Her achievements include the 'Young Scientist Award in Agriculture' by Uttarakhand State Council for Science And Technology (UCOST) - Dehradun in 2018 and being named a 40 under 40 honoree by LEDs Magazine - USA in 2020 for her leadership in controlled environment agriculture.
In her leisure time, Shivangi enjoys singing and exploring her passion for interior design. She also loves traveling to destinations with rich natural and cultural heritage.
