Shaurya Rahul Narlanka is a Program Manager with the Climate, Economics and Finance team at WRI India. His work focuses on using energy economy models to explore pathways that support India’s development and climate goals. 

Before joining WRI India, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Civil Engineering department at Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, for over 11 years.

Rahul earned his PhD in Management Studies from the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, in 2025, where his research focused on understanding and measuring energy transitions in rural Indian households. He holds a master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a systems focus from Johns Hopkins University and a master’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a focus on materials, mechanics, and computing from Carnegie Mellon University. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from MAHE, Manipal.

Outside of work, Rahul enjoys spending time outdoors observing wildlife, particularly birds. He also regularly runs, swims, and cycles.
