Dr. Sandeep Madhwal is a Senior Program Associate with the Air Quality team under Sustainable Cities and Transport at WRI India. He works with city governments to implement data-driven air quality policies, focusing on monitoring strategies, data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and capacity building.

Previously, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at IIT Kanpur on a U.S. Department of State-funded project, using low-cost sensors and satellite data for air quality analysis and policy design. He also served as an Assistant Professor of Environmental Science, mentoring students and publishing research in international journals.

Sandeep holds a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science from Doon University, where he studied the distribution and risks of bioaerosols in ambient air. His expertise includes air quality modeling, exposure assessment, and advanced data analytics, with hands-on experience in using cutting-edge monitoring instruments.

Outside of work, he enjoys mountain hiking, exploring new places, and sports. He is also passionate about mentoring young researchers and raising awareness on air pollution.
