Samantha (Sam) is the data lead and senior manager for Global Water Data Products at WRI. She works to expand data-driven research across the Water Program, from improving the team’s analytical capabilities using the latest geospatial techniques to creating new tools using machine learning. Sam leads the development of the Aqueduct Platform, and global research for the Water, Peace, and Security project.

Prior to joining WRI in 2017, Sam worked as a data specialist in the private and public sectors. She holds a master’s degree in environmental management of water resources and a certificate in geospatial analysis from Duke University. Sam received her bachelor’s degree in environment geosciences from the College of Charleston.

Sam lives in California with her partner, Raul. Together, they are trying to see as many redwood forests as time permits.
