Rimi Palmo is a Senior Program Associate with the Climate, Economics, and Finance program at WRI India, based in Mumbai. She supports subnational climate action in Maharashtra through policy coordination, stakeholder engagement, and the development of planning and implementation frameworks. 

Before joining WRI India, Rimi worked extensively with the Government of Maharashtra on climate and sustainability initiatives. Her experience includes research, policy drafting, and stakeholder engagement for the state’s Electric Vehicle Policy 2025 to 2030, as well as sectoral climate action across urban development, ecosystem based adaptation, sustainable tourism, and climate justice. She was part of the PMU team for the Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan, contributing to campaign design and capacity building initiatives for over 28,000 local bodies. She has also worked on climate resilient agribusiness projects in Maharashtra supported by the World Bank and ADB.

Rimi holds a Master’s degree in Climate Change and Sustainability Studies from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Delhi.

Outside of work, she enjoys dancing, particularly hip hop and waacking, cooking, and exploring places of natural and cultural significance. She also values long conversations and spontaneous plans with friends.
