Bio

Rama Thoopal is the Head - Program Communications with the Sustainable Cities and Transport program at WRI India and liaisons closely with the WRI India Core Communications team for specific needs. She works with all Cities teams to strategize and further the reach of the program’s initiatives across different media and digital platforms.

Rama has over 17 years of experience in print, digital marketing, branding, UI & UX, and content strategy. Her last full-time role was as the Creative Head of a prominent Mumbai based digital agency where she worked on several award-winning projects for a range of clients cutting across industries and verticals. Her more recent outing was as an independent consultant working on digital, print and video deliverables for Godrej & Boyce, Godrej Design Lab, Tata Steel, Geocycle India, WRI India and GemCorp Recycling among others.

A Delhi University graduate, with a Master’s in English, Rama also has design thinking credentials, an advertising diploma and sustainability-led certification (Azim Premji, Chicago Academy of Sciences) to her credit.

Rama lives in Secunderabad, Telangana. A firm believer in a low-waste lifestyle and minimalism, she is an avid swimmer and a voracious reader. Other pastimes include signing up for MOOCs, hiking intermittently and composting – lazy, active and vermicomposting. Hit her up with your composting queries!
