Rajit Sengupta is the Associate Program Communications Director with the Climate Economics & Finance Program at WRI India. He works at the intersection of research and public engagement, translating complex climate and economic analysis into clear, compelling narratives for outreach and impact.

Rajit brings over 16 years of experience in climate journalism and media training. Before joining WRI India, he held senior editorial roles at Down To Earth, India’s oldest environmental fortnightly magazine, as well as with other media houses.

He holds academic degrees in Political Science and Journalism, and his work revolves around making climate and environmental issues accessible through rigorous data and effective storytelling. In 2023, he was selected as a fellow of the Lede Program at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.

Outside of work, Rajit is an avid fountain pen enthusiast with a particular interest in Indian handmade pens, and he enjoys experimenting with new formats of visual storytelling.
