Pavankumar Ankonapalli is Program Lead, Urban Development at WRI India. He is based out of Hyderabad and leads and coordinates across WRI India’s Urban Development Projects in the city/region.

Pavan was previously with Amaravati Development Corporation Limited (ADCL), where he was involved in the planning, strategy development, project management and implementation of infrastructure works for Amaravati.

Prior to ADCL, Pavan worked with IDFC Institute and IDFC Foundation on strategic initiatives in the creation of policy and regulatory frameworks and managed programs for efficient delivery of infrastructure services. He has also worked with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation as Policy Analyst on affordable housing and resource mobilization issues, and with High Powered Expert Committee (HPEC) on Estimating Investment Requirements for Urban Infrastructure Services.

He co-authored India’s Reluctant Urbanization: Thinking Beyond published by Palgrave Publications, UK and co-authored couple of chapters for Shelter Security in Urban India: Pathways, Barriers and Outcomes published by Concept Publications, New Delhi.

Pavan holds a Masters in Infrastructure Planning from CEPT University, Ahmedabad and a bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning from the School of Planning and Architecture, JNTU, Hyderabad, India.
