Oindrila Basu, a Senior Program Research Analyst within the Food, Land, and Water program, is a driving force in sustainable development. Her work seamlessly bridges nature, people, and climate. Her primary mission revolves around boosting capital and capacity for local grassroots organizations committed to rejuvenating Central Indian landscapes through the Harit Bharat Fund. In doing so, she aligns WRI India’s restoration initiatives with global landscapes.

Armed with a master’s degree in forestry from the Forest Research Institute, Dehradun, Oindrila brings five years of diverse experience to her role. Her career has been dedicated to understanding human-nature interactions, shaping public policy, and advocating for sustainable practices. As a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) at Jadavpur University, she conducted multidimensional research on coastal Sustainable Development Goals. Additionally, her tenure as a Mahatma Gandhi National Fellow with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) focused on empowering women and promoting sustainable urban development.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Oindrila actively engages with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Commission on Ecosystem Management, championing ecosystem-based solutions and youth representation.

During her leisure time, she explores new places, experiments with recipes, interacts with diverse communities, and immerses herself in literature that deepens her understanding of the intricate bonds between humans and nature within culinary traditions and customs.
