Nivedita Cholayil
Senior Program Associate - Climate

Nivedita Cholayil is a Senior Program Associate with the Climate Program at WRI India. Here she is primarily involved in the energy-economy modelling work of the program which examines various low-carbon development pathways for enabling India’s transition in a just and equitable manner.
Previously, she was associated with Delhi-based The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), where she worked as a policy researcher focusing on various issues related to sustainable development. Prior to that, she worked as a journalist with Reuters news, covering U.S. financial markets and businesses. She has also interned with other development organizations such as UNDP and NITI Aayog.
Nivedita holds a master’s in International Studies from Christ University, Bangalore, and a bachelor’s in Economics from University of Delhi.
Over weekends and during her time off, she dons the hat of a trained classical dancer, and can be found performing in and around Delhi for various dance festivals. She has been practicing Mohiniyattam (a dance form from Kerala) since 2008. In her spare time, she catches up on reading, and exploring new cities.
