Nitya Sharma
Program Manager - Food Loss and Waste

Nitya Sharma is a Program Manager with the Food Loss and Waste team in WRI India’s Food, Land and Water program. Her work includes helping build strategies to reduce food loss and waste at all supply chain levels. She also anchors the Friends of Champion 12.3 Network in India.
Nitya comes to WRI India with an extensive research background. Prior to joining WRI India, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Rural Development and Technology, IIT Delhi. She has directed and implemented both academic and outreach research in the areas of food technology and engineering. She has also undertaken various multidisciplinary projects in collaboration with researchers across the globe.
Nitya holds a PhD in Agricultural Engineering, with a specialization in Processing and Food Engineering, from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. She is a recipient of Commonwealth Split-Site Doctoral Award taken up in the University of Reading, United Kingdom.
In her spare time, Nitya enjoys exploring her interests that involves creativity.
