Neha Shigwan
Program Associate - Urban Climate Resilience

Neha Shigwan is a Program Associate with Sustainable Cities and Transport at WRI India. Her work involves research and practice to integrate Nature-based Solutions for climate adaptation, and climate-focused governance interventions in Mumbai. She is currently working on the Greening Mumbai Manual, developing Mumbai's first Climate Budget, and supporting MCAP implementation in Mumbai.
Prior to joining WRI, Neha practiced as an architect and researcher specializing in universal and sustainable design. Over four years, she collaborated with diverse stakeholders, including Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Pune, Raipur, and Bhilai Municipal Corporation, and NGOs like UNICEF, WaterAid, Access to Hope, among others. Her work focused on creating universally accessible private and public spaces and infrastructure, such as public toilets, drinking water fountains, green open spaces, pedestrian pathways, etc.
Neha has been an Urban Fellow with the Indian Institute for Human Settlements' Urban Fellows Programme, where her focus areas included Urban Planning and Infrastructure, Urban Governance, and Climate Risk and Resilience. She holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Sir. J. J. College of Architecture and has completed field training in Leadership in Biodiversity Conservation from the Bombay Natural History Society, Mumbai.
She loves taking nature walks to sight reptiles, birds and insects, gardening, and enjoys spending weekends taking heritage walks, at art galleries and museums, or watching movies.
