Program Lead - Climate

Mehul is the Program Lead in the Climate Program at WRI India. He is a climate action researcher and practitioner with over a decade of experience in the field of climate mitigation and resilience.
In his current role, Mehul is involved with designing and planning inclusive climate action plans with states and cities. His work involves the development of GHG emissions inventories, modelling and scenario development, target setting, sectoral analysis, and engagement. He is deeply engaged in developing the resilience and capacities of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as part of corporate climate action work. Besides, he is also involved in developing various tools that will enable the relevant stakeholders to understand their greenhouse gas emission profiles and develop mitigation strategies.
Previously Mehul served various positions such as Climate Action Expert with 15 cities across India with GFA Consultant GmbH at New Delhi; Deputy Chief Resilience Officer with Rockefeller Philanthropy; Advisor to the Surat city; and Senior Consultant with TARU leading Edge on various intervention projects in Indore and Surat city.
Mehul holds a master’s degree in human resources development and a bachelor’s degree in law from South Gujarat University. He also holds a Post Graduation Diploma in Disaster Management from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).
In his spare time, you will see Mehul involved in wildlife photography, experimenting with drone flights, playing cricket, and travelling.
