Himashree Sarma
Manager - Development

Dr. Himashree Sarma is a Manager in the Development team at WRI India. She looks after partnerships with bilateral and multi-lateral institutions. She envisions to work towards creating an enabling environment that will encourage strategic partnerships to achieve just transition and impact at scale.
She started her career as a field research officer with Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and went on to explore the corporate and start-up landscape for a brief period, post which she transitioned to the development space and worked with organizations like Save the Children, Akshaya Patra Foundation where she managed CSR partnerships to deliver sustainable, inclusive, and impactful projects at scale across corporates, PSUs, and CSOs.
Himashree has completed her graduation from Hindu College, Delhi University; Post-graduation from Jamia Milia Islamia, and her MPhil & PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University in the discipline of Sociology. During her PhD, she worked on Menstruation & Ritual Symbolism to understand the process of menstruation as a phenomenon beyond physiology and how cultural and religious norms govern in building a social narrative that is highly hegemonic and regulated.
She is also a yoga enthusiast and an avid traveler who loves to explore cultures, cuisines, spirituality, landscapes etc., to experience gratitude and perspectives about life and well-being.
