Himani Rangoonwala is a Junior Program Associate with the Electric Mobility team with the Sustainable Cities and Transport program at WRI India. Here she is involved in research and development, policy mechanism, and data analytics in projects like urban freight, EV (Electric Vehicle) and emissions from transport. Her area of interest are urban freight, electric mobility, and public transport planning.

Prior to WRI India, Himani worked with development authorities on urban planning projects; preparation of GIS based master plans and zonal development plans for 18 towns of Jharkhand. She also worked in data collection, mapping, analysis for the Quantified Cities Movement in Pune; as well as water, sanitation, sewerage, and solid waste management projects in Surat. Majority of her experience lies in the domain of documentation and analysis of strategies by cities worldwide to promote non-motorized transport (NMT) during the COVID-19 pandemic; gentrification of urban areas and its impact on transit ridership and assessing the carbon dioxide emissions from urban freight transport.

Himani holds a master’s in Transportation Planning and Logistics Management from the School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal and a bachelor’s in Planning from the Institute of Architecture and Planning, Nirma University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

In her free time, she enjoys travelling, reading, and listening to music. Himani is a professional classical Bharatnatyam dancer.
