Chaitanya Kanuri is an Associate Director - Electric Mobility with the Sustainable Cities and Transport team at WRI India, where she leads various research and project initiatives on electric mobility at the national and state levels. Her areas of research include state-level policies and regulations to promote e-mobility, EV charging infrastructure planning frameworks, and e-mobility startup business models, and she co-authored a NITI Aayog handbook on charging infrastructure implementation. She also oversees government partnerships in six Indian states, to support the implementation of EV demand creation and infrastructure development measures.

Prior to joining WRI India, Chaitanya worked with the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) as part of their Sustainable Cities team. Her work focused on enabling local governments to adopt more sustainable planning and governance practices, and she co-authored a handbook on getting started with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in cities. Through her research, Chaitanya engages with planning, policy and governance issues in Indian cities, which are her key areas of interest. Previously, she also worked as an architect in Bengaluru.

Chaitanya holds a master’s in Urban Policy and Governance from Sciences Po, Paris, and a bachelor’s in Architecture from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur.
