Ashwini is Associate Program Director in the Climate program at World Resources Institute India. She is a climate policy researcher and economist with over a decade of experience in the field of climate change mitigation.

In her current role, Ashwini leads the just transitions and equity work of WRI India’s climate program, through energy economy modeling as well as sectoral analysis and engagement. Her current work includes modeling policies for meeting India’s climate goals, assessing their co-benefits, tradeoffs, and distributional impacts, supporting an inclusive and equitable low-carbon transition for vulnerable actors and economic sectors, and exploring the role of carbon pricing instruments in India. At World Resources Institute, Ashwini has also been supporting ambitious climate action from Indian businesses.

Previously Ashwini has worked as an ESG researcher at Sustainalytics in Singapore, and as a climate change and sustainability consultant with Ernst & Young LLP (EY) in Mumbai. At EY, she advised clients on energy and carbon management, sustainability strategy, and emission reductions projects under various carbon market mechanisms.

Ashwini holds a Master's (MPA) in Public and Economic Policy from the London School of Economics (LSE) with a specialization in Environmental and Resource Economics, and a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering from the University of Mumbai.

She lives in Mumbai with her partner, Vivek, their toddler, Ved, and their dog, Pesto.
