Arunima Sen is a Program Manager at WRI India, where she works within the Urban Development team of the Sustainable Cities and Transport program. Her focus is on people-centred public spaces, with an emphasis on children and caregiver-centric urban development.

Before joining WRI India, she worked with the National Institute of Urban Affairs in New Delhi and HCPDPM in Ahmedabad. Her project experience spans across master-planning, urban design, heritage-centred planning, and infrastructure development across multiple cities in India. Her work takes a collaborative approach, working closely with government agencies, local communities, and civic stakeholders to shape urban environments that are inclusive, responsive, and designed for the people who use them most.

Arunima holds a bachelor’s in Architecture from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. She holds a Master’s in Architecture (major in Urban Design, Minor in Conservation) from CEPT University, Ahmedabad, where she also contributed as a Research Associate.

In her free time, Arunima likes to paint landscapes, cooking and exploring food histories. She also enjoys reading and learning about the colonial history of India.
