Abhishek Mahajan is a Program Associate – Electric Mobility with the Sustainable Cities and Transport vertical at WRI India. He contributes to the team’s efforts on enabling a just and inclusive transition to electric vehicles. He works at the intersection of urban transport and climate change. His areas of interest include low-carbon mobility, transit-oriented development and affiliated sustainable transport practices; and is enthusiastic about urban-life upgradation.

Previously, Abhishek worked with Ernst & Young where he gained diversified experience across projects of varying scales from developing city-level interventions to national-scale projects; revolving around smart cities, sustainable transport, tourism and urban systems thinking. He also had a stint with Directorate of Urban Land Transport, Bengaluru; where he worked on conceptualizing seamless multi-modal integration.

Abhishek’s passion towards urban transport has been influenced by his master’s degree in Transport Planning from School of Planning & Architecture, Delhi. He also holds a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from University of Pune. His academic work predominantly focused on urban mobility systems and transport data analytics.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Abhishek is passionate about photography and enjoys exploring diverse cultures, traditions, festivals, cuisines, and historical heritage sites around the world.
