Position Overview:

WRI India is seeking an intern in Bangalore for the Energy Access work housed in the Energy Program in India. With his/her knowledge of the sub-national policy and institutional landscape relevant to electricity access, environmental vulnerability, and social development in India, the intern will assist the team in the on-going work of energy for development. The energy access work seeks to expand the access to energy in states where there continues to be unserved and under-served demand, while linking access to development outcomes within these states.

Key Responsibilities:

The intern will undertake and oversee a range of responsibilities for the energy access team as are listed below:

• Conduct systematic research of the policy and institutional landscape at the sub-national level (state, district and beyond) to understand the administrative focus and processes relevant to electricity access and environmental resilience.

• Conduct a detailed stakeholder mapping of key sub-national players (institutions as well as individuals) who influence and are impacted by developments relevant to electricity access and environmental vulnerability.

• A summary of the findings and a final presentation reflecting the outcomes of the policy and institutional mapping exercise will be expected at the end of the internship duration.

Qualifications

• Degree in social sciences and/or energy-related discipline. Master’s preferred

• Strong research skills including knowledge of key policy and institutional dynamics at the state level in India

• Experience of writing and using the tools like MS Office for capturing and presenting information

• Good communications skills, willingness to engage with the team members in project discussions

• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Duration

The internship will start from 15th November and end on 31st December 2018.
