Site Suitability Assessment Of Green Hydrogen Hubs In India: A Data-driven Methodology For Strategic Hub Development
This paper presents a GIS-based, multi-criteria methodology to identify suitable locations for green hydrogen hubs in India, considering resource availability, hydrogen demand, enabling infrastructure, and environmental constraints to support the colocation of production, distribution, and consumption.
This paper presents a two-stage, GIS-based multi-criteria decision-making methodology to identify suitable locations for green hydrogen hubs in India. It assesses factors such as renewable energy, transmission infrastructure, water availability, hydrogen demand from fertilizer, refinery and steel sectors, enabling infrastructure, and environmental constraints.
Stage 1 evaluates the potential of different states based on resource and consumption scenarios, while Stage 2 identifies suitable hub locations within a selected state. The methodology provides a structured basis for site selection but does not yet account for economic feasibility or social constraints related to land and water, which remain important areas for future research.
