Senior Program Associate - Sustainable Cities & Transport
Visakha KA is a Senior Program Associate working with the Sustainable Cities and Transport Team at WRI India, coordinating efforts to create a Network of Cities in India for the Nurturing Neighbourhoods 2.0 program, focused on creating young children and caregiver-friendly urban spaces. She manages stakeholder engagement, provides technical support for on-ground implementation, and works to institutionalize policies for young children and caregiver friendly urban spaces in the city. Her key contributions include developing toolkits and guidelines for public space design and designing interactive Capacity Building activities for the program. She has over 7 years of experience working with diverse organizations, contributing to urban planning projects, policy development, and the establishment of key city infrastructure initiatives.
She has previously held positions in Gujarat Tourism Opportunities Limited, Gandhinagar and Cochin Smart City Limited, Kochi as consultant Urban Planner. She has been also part of the team working for creating master plan and policy for parking in Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, as part of setting up of Mumbai Parking Authority.
Visakha holds a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning from Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT), Ahmedabad specializing in Transport Planning. She also holds a Bachelor’s in Architecture from National Institute of Technology, Calicut.
She holds a special interest in designing interactive Capacity Building activities for stakeholders on various topics. She loves to spend time appreciating and learning different art forms, engaging in deep and thoughtful conversations about life and its mysteries.
