15 Years of Impact
Over the past 15 years, WRI India has contributed to strengthening public systems, enabling data-driven decision-making and supporting India’s transition toward a low-carbon, resilient future.
WRI India was established to help address the country’s rapidly evolving development challenges through rigorous research, on-ground engagement and practical solutions. Our work began in 2008 with a single urban transport project, when the organization was known as EMBARQ. WRI India was formally established in 2011 and today has staff working in 20+ states across the country around systems like food, land and water; energy; and cities.
From bustling cities to fragile landscapes, WRI India works alongside communities and governments to shape places into greener, more resilient and people-centric spaces.
We support innovative, transformative solutions to enable faster adoption of sustainable practices, unlocking new pathways for climate action and inclusive development.
