Devadathan Biju is a Senior Program Associate with the Climate, Economics & Finance (CEF) Program at WRI India, where he contributes to the team’s energy-economy modelling and analytical work. He brings over four years of experience in energy-economy modelling, with a focus on energy systems. His work applies modelling tools to address policy-relevant questions around electricity sector transitions, the system-wide impacts of individual climate policies, macroeconomic implications of low-carbon pathways, and the intersections between climate goals, development, and energy security. Before joining WRI India, Dev began his career as a Research Assistant at the MATRIX Lab at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, where he studied nanoscale defects in materials and their influence on macroscopic properties. He also briefly worked with Modern Architects for Rural India (MARI), a Hyderabad-based non-profit, exploring the connections between science, technology, and public policy. Dev holds a Master’s degree in Physics from IISc and is currently based in Bengaluru. Outside of work, he enjoys staying active, whether on the badminton court, in the pool, or by informally hosting and caring for pets of friends who are travelling.
