Modelling Pathways for Zero Emission Transport Systems in India

The Forum for Decarbonising Transport, a NITI Aayog-led platform for supporting meaningful discourse around policy and practice for transport decarbonization in India, in partnership with WRI India, is organising a workshop to present and discuss the development of different climate models for a carbon-neutral transport sector. The workshop, titled “Modelling Pathways for Zero Emission Transport Systems in India,” aims to bring together climate modellers, transport policymakers, researchers, and practitioners to deliberate on various models under development. These include models by various esteemed organisations, such as the Economics of Energy Innovation and System Transition (EEIST), a University of Exeter led project, the World Resources Institute India (WRI India) and a collaborative initiative by GIZ India and The Celestial Earth.

The objectives of the workshop are as follows:

• Illuminate transport modelling efforts to the India Climate and Energy Modelling Forum (ICEMF), a NITI Aayog initiative,

• Provide critical inputs to the different transport modelling organisations from experts and practitioners, and

• Integrate pivotal insights from the transport models under development to inform the discourse on sustainable transport pathways.
