Divisional-level Dissemination Workshops in Bihar

Divisional-level Dissemination Workshops in Bihar

WRI India, in partnership with the Department of Environment Forest and Climate Change (DoEFCC), Government of Bihar, and the Bihar State Pollution Control Board (BSPCB), is organizing Divisional-level Dissemination Workshops as part of the capacity-building strategy for the effective implementation of the ‘Climate Resilient and Low Carbon Development Pathway for Bihar’.

This long-term state-level strategy document is the result of an exhaustive two-and-a-half-year collaboration between BSPCB, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and a technical consortium including WRI India. The process involved meticulous data collection from over 20-line departments, site visits to all 38 districts, 350 meetings, and 30 stakeholder consultations.

These divisional-level workshops will sensitize stakeholders across all nine administrative divisions covering all 38 districts of Bihar, over the next one month. The purpose is to build the capacities of stakeholders including government officials, para-statal agencies, academia, research institutions, civil society organizations, local NGOs, eminent subject experts, and citizen groups on implications of climate change for Bihar, and district-specific recommendations for climate resilient and low-carbon development.

In the first phase, four (04) divisional-level workshops are being organized in Gaya, Darbhanga, Purnea and Saharsa during 15-19 July’24, while the remaining five (05) divisional-level workshops will be organized in August’24.
