Scenarios and their Implications for Viksit Bharat and Net Zero 2070
WRI India is organizing an invite-only workshop titled “Scenarios and their Implications for Viksit Bharat and Net Zero 2070”. Bringing together stakeholders from government, research organizations, civil society, and academia, the workshop uses participatory modelling and systems mapping to understand the socio-economic, distributional, resource-use, and public finance consequences of the climate policy levers identified in NITI Aayog's reports on "Scenarios Towards Viksit Bharat and Net Zero."
Experts will set the context on the long-term low-carbon transition scenarios for India from the recently released reports on "Scenarios for Viksit Bharat and Net Zero 2070." Following this, participants will work towards co-creating sectoral pathways and discuss potential milestones for Net Zero by 2070 using the India-Energy Policy Simulator (India-EPS) and the Green Economy Model for India (GEM-India).
Through these discussions, participants will explore the implications of these scenarios across four key systems:
- Macroeconomic System (Jobs, growth, GDP, etc.)
- Social and Microeconomic System (household level impacts, wages, skills, etc.)Public Finance
- System (Government investments, spending, debt, import/export dependencies, etc.)
- Resource-Use Consequences (Land, Water, Minerals, etc.)
