From Evidence to Impact: How Data-Informed Decisions Enable Change
Data is essential to understanding the challenges we face and shaping informed decisions. But its true value lies in how effectively it is communicated, understood and applied. Translating complex evidence into stories that are clear, credible, and engaging can help diverse audiences understand why an issue matters, connect it with their own experiences, and inspire meaningful action.
WRI India has long used geospatial analysis, open-data platforms and evidence-based modelling to make complex urban, climate and energy challenges easier to understand. By revealing patterns, generating actionable insights and making evidence more accessible, this work supports informed decision-making for sustainable and equitable development that benefits people, nature and climate.
As part of the Bangalore Climate Data Week 2026, WRI India is organizing an exhibition cum exchange experience, ‘From Evidence to Impact: How Data-Informed Decisions Enable Change’ from 12th-14th October 2026 at its Bengaluru office located at 2nd Floor, No. 93/2, G Towers, South End Road, Basavanagudi.
The exhibition will offer participants an immersive, data-led storytelling experience that encourages them to see familiar challenges through a new lens. Here, data becomes a medium for exploration, reflection, and dialogue. Through interactive exhibits, live demonstrations and facilitated exchanges, participants will discover WRI India’s applications, tools and knowledge products that reveal hidden patterns, translate complex information into accessible insights and generate actionable evidence for better decision-making.
The exhibition and exchange will also feature the launch of the Data Lab Connect, an initiative by WRI India to bridge the evidence-gap in localizing climate action in the city.
It aims to strengthen the capacity of Bengaluru’s urban ecosystem to effectively use data and geospatial analytics for climate action at a local level, especially those working towards enhancing resilience of the vulnerable communities. Bringing together WRI India’s understanding of urban systems with its data and geospatial analytics expertise, the initiative will support organizations in unpacking a climate change related problem by offering geospatial analytical insights. Through this data exhibition, WRI India aims to:
- Trace Bengaluru’s climate action journey from preparation of the Bengaluru Climate Action and Resilience Plan (BCAP) to today, and the critical role of data & evidence at different stages.
- Introduce participants to tools and resources developed by WRI India that support data-informed decision-making, through live demonstration sessions.
- Curate interactive and hands-on sessions to facilitate wider uptake of key community-centric tools and learn more about their applications.
