WRI India's CEO, OP Agarwal's contribution to the urban transport sector was recognised via a lifetime achievement award at the Prawaas 2017 conference held in Navi Mumbai on 29 July. The award was presented by Ramalinga Reddy, Diwar Rowte, and CP Singh - the Ministers of Transport for Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Bihar respectively.

5 June 2017, Mumbai: India Vision Zero (IVZ) 2017, a two-day conference to discuss the pathway to road safety reforms in India, kicked off in Mumbai on Monday. Jointly organized by Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety, the state Ministry of Transport and WRI India Ross Centre, the conference brought together stakeholders from the Centre, states and cities, urban planners, sector experts and members of the civil society, to debate on strategies to make road safety an integral part of infrastructural growth.

On 28th November 2016, WRI India in collaboration with CII organised an event in Bangalore to further conversations among Indian corporates, with regard to greenhouse gas (GHG) measurement, reporting, and possible mitigation measures through energy efficiency and renewable energy. Panelists and participants included academicians, corporations interested in reducing their carbon footprint, private organisations engaged in promotion of renewable energy and general stakeholders interested in the energy sector.

WRI India’s Climate Resilient Practice team facilitated a Participatory Scenario Development (PSD) workshop organised by Centre for Study of Science, Technology and Policy (CSTEP) on 24th November, 2016. The objective of the workshop was to develop sustainable development scenarios for the betterment of Doddaballapur residents, under the project ‘Understanding the dynamic changes in India’s peri‐urban regions and building capacity and resilience in the context of urbanisation and climate change’ funded by IDRC.
