Saumya Vaishnava
Research Fellow – Transmission, Planning and Utilities

Saumya is a Research Fellow in WRI India’s Energy Program, working primarily on electricity transmission planning and electricity supply. She has over a decade of experience across the electricity value chain in India and has published several policy reports and academic papers on energy issues.
Before joining WRI India, Saumya worked with the Centre for Social and Economic Progress (CSEP) in Delhi, Prayas (Energy Group) in Pune, and PRS Legislative Research in Delhi.
She holds a master’s degree in Economics and Public Policy from Sciences Po, Paris, and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. She is currently completing her PhD in Geography from the Pennsylvania State University.
